Though this story is a Fairytale, it was born from a time of grief, when I felt utterly depleted. At it’s core, it’s a story of healing, a tender, whimsical, and often challenging voyage back to the light within.

This is a work of fiction. All of the characters and events portrayed in this novel are products of the author’s imagination.

This story explores sensitive themes including abuse, grief, and death. While it ultimately offers a hopeful and uplifting ending, we encourage readers to approach it with care.

Author’s Note:
Alchemy began as a series of fine art paintings and interior sketches that grew into an entire story world you now hold in your hands. To add an extra layer of magick and discovery, I created a short stop-motion film called The Mystery of Eve. It’s a companion piece to Alchemy, a visual prelude that offers hidden threads, symbolic imagery, and Easter eggs that intertwine with the novel’s themes and characters. Whether you experience the book or film first, I invite you to explore both! You can view the film on my YouTube channel.

About The Story:
Cassandra was created, not born. The Alchemist poured all her love and magick into the doll, sealed with a precious emerald heart, locked tight to protect it. But before the Alchemist could teach Cassandra who she truly was, the Queen demanded the doll for her Child. Powerless to refuse, the Alchemist was forced to give her up, only to realize she had forgotten to give her the key to her heart. It was a devastating mistake that would last for centuries.

At the end of World War II, Cassandra is discovered among the forgotten treasures of a fallen kingdom. Shipped to New York City, she is purchased by a cold-hearted tycoon Archibald Bonz, who gifts the doll to his spoiled daughter, Bertie. Neither of them know that the emerald heart-lock in her chest could be worth millions, or that it holds something far more powerful. Mocked and cast aside like all her other toys, Cassandra’s spirit fractures and from that break, a Shadow is born, a mysterious indigo Shadow-Cat, who rarely speaks but remembers what Cassandra cannot.

When Cassandra escapes Bertie’s abuse, she finds herself lost in a world she’s never known, with only a flicker of forgotten magick to guide her. Hunted by Bonz and his daughter who are not far behind, Cassandra is drawn to a mysterious House filled with others who seem just as trapped as she is. To save them, and herself, she must confront her deepest fears and awaken the dormant magick within her. The key is missing. But maybe, just maybe, she can unlock it another way.
